is The Car Harness And Extention Cord Expensive? Cuz If It Is, My Family Doesnt Have A Lot Of Extra Money To Spend On My Basenji Mix, Brandy. We Dont Take Her Into The Car Alot Except When We Are Driving Her To Or From The Vet From Being Boarded After? Or Before A Trip. And When She Is In The Car, She Just Sits In The Trunk With Her Bed And Leash. She Gets Carsick Sometimes Tho. Plz Reply!!

@iknowulovemee1 Hi there, I’ll send you a message with the link for a product called the doggie seat belt (I can’t attach a link here, You Tube won’t let me). It’s $19.99 and includes the body harness and extension? lead built in, which you can also use as a leash. When you said your dog rides in the trunk, you meant the back of the car, right? Not the actual trunk I hope! That would be extremely dangerous! Let me know. Meanwhile, I’ll send you the doggie seat belt link in a separate message now.

Our Car’s Trunk Is Not Separated From The Back Of Our Car.? Its A 4Runner. Like Ur In The BackSeat And U Turn Around And Theres The Trunk.I Can Turn Around And Pet Her And Comfort Her. Do U Get What Im Saying? Its Kinda Hard To Explain!! Its Roomy And We Are Extremly Careful When We Drive With Her!No Worries!! She Likes The Ride, But If Its Too Long… You Know!!!

  7. MelanieLMonteiro says:

@iknowulovemee1 Yep, I know what you’re saying. I figured we were just using 2 different words for the same thing, which I call the cargo area. For her car sickness, make sure? she’s getting plenty of fresh air, & ask your vet if you can give her Benadryl 1/2 hr. before long rides, which u can get at drug store & can be used for car sick dogs with vet’s approval. Ask them for correct dosage – it should not exceed 1mg. per pound of body weight (i.e. 50 mg. for a 50 pound dog). Hope that helps.

I would like to say that another good measure is to put your cell number on your dog’s tag, just in case he or she were to get lost in a foreign place and found by? a stranger, they would be able to reach you right away. :)

  11. MelanieLMonteiro says:

@soposthardcore? Yes, that’s very important – thank you for watching and commenting!

Our dog Misty has her Aunt Deb’s phone number on her tag (Aunt Deb is also her vet–lucky Misty!). ;-) Excellent advice. There are? some neat new cooling product available that work well for those of us who have to leave our dogs in the vehicle at times, including cooling pads and fans.

While you make some good points there are more things that should be done.
Always have fresh water available, freeze a liter bottle the night before. We carry a booklet with a record? of their recent shots along with their pictures, vets, other contacts phone etc. It also contains comments on their personality, if they bite, do not let them loose, etc. You can also purchase a computer stick that they wear on their collar that also contains all the pertinent info, everyone has ‘pute access.

@Loony4Outdoors I sure hope you don’t mean leaving dogs in the car in 90 degree weather. No cooling pads or fans will help a dog that would be cooking to death left in the car in sweltering heat. And I don’t know where you are but dogs are stolen out of cars. Never safe to leave dogs in cars as you would never leave kids unattended in cars and never leave dogs in car even for a few minutes in hot weather. I sure hope you are aware of this. Many people have no? clue about things such as this-thanks
